Most airlines and countries will require you to present proof of a negative COVID-19 test within the last 24 to 72 hours, however the exact requirements depend on the airline and destination you’re flying to. Accepted tests include Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), which may also be reported as RT-PCR or PCR.
Proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result is required for entry back into New Zealand. Anyone travelling to New Zealand by air must complete a New Zealand Traveller Declaration prior to check-in.
If your flight is delayed, you will still be considered to have met the pre-departure testing requirements. You will not need a new test. However, if your flight is re-scheduled or cancelled, you will need to provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within the required timeframe set by the airline and destination of travel.
Every country has their own entry requirements. You may be required to present proof of a negative COVID-19 test within a specifc timeframe, your vaccination credenitals, an entry permit and/or travel insurance with adequate medical cover to be allowed entry.
The requirements at time of booking may differ by the time you depart. It’s important that you check the host country's Government requirements well before your departure date, and again closer to your departure date.
